Pebbled Leather Basketballs

Commissioned by the esteemed artist Kehinde Wiley, this project called for an innovative fusion of sport and high art. The brief challenged us to translate his iconic visual language onto a functional object, creating a series of basketballs that are as much sculptural works as they are sporting goods.

Each ball is constructed from a select pebbled leather, chosen for its tactile quality and enduring resilience. Wiley’s celebrated artworks were then digitally rendered with exacting precision, ensuring faithful reproduction of color and detail upon the spherical surface. This intricate process transforms the athletic sphere into a unique canvas, blurring the lines between the court and the gallery.

The result is a series of singular objects, each embodying a powerful dialogue between contemporary art and classic sport. These are not merely accessories, but curated artifacts, designed to be admired, handled, and held in high esteem.
